Diamond Head Summit
Hiking Trail
Easy
1.81 mi
474 ft
A technically easy but aerobically difficult hike to a stunning viewpoint.
The hike to Diamond Head Summit is one of the most popular on Oahu, thanks to its incredible views from the top! The trail was originally constructed to serve a military installation high on the mountainside and consequently still has a well-reinforced trail surface, complete with steps, even today. One part of the trail even goes through a lighted tunnel.
While the trail tread is fairly predictable and achievable, earning it a "Moderate" FATMAP technicality rating, this is still a steep, aerobic climb. In just 0.8 miles one-way, the trail climbs over 560 vertical feet in elevation. If you plan to reach the summit, be prepared for a short but intense workout.
